Abstract:
We present a numerical study in the framework of quantum theory of the scattering of a particle moving in a two-dimensional plane on a static potential. We first outline the split-operator (SO) method used to integrate the time-dependent Schrödinger equation (TDSE) and introduce the code developed for this study. To validate our implementation, we present test results for a free particle, comparing them with known analytical formulas. Next, we analyze the scattering on a centrally symmetric Gaussian potential; we calculate the differential cross-section from the probability current and extract the corresponding phase shifts. Finally, we consider the case of the non-central Henon-Heiles potential, illustrating how the shape of the scattered probability current depends on the initial energy of the particle.
