Abstract:
Ultra-high phase spaces might be accessed through the 13.6 TeV collision energy in Run3 data taking period, as well as the high luminosity upgrades of the Large Hadron Collider. This is an opportunity to explore the observation insights and/or limitations of the HL-LHC experiments to potentially new physics. We performed phenomenological feasibility studies of resonantly produced diquark scalar at the HL-LHC experiments. Starting from the Monte Carlo generation of signal and background processes, we apply a Random Forest multi-dimensional discriminator and perform a thorough statistical interpretation of the event selection efficiency. We explore the multi-jet fully hadronic final states of a diquark decaying into a pair of vectorlike quarks, as well as a SM up quark and a BSM VLQ pair. Our results show that, regardless of the diquark decay mode, the high luminosity ATLAS experiment might find or set boundaries of an ultraheavy scalar mass in the 8-9 TeV range.
