Observability of an ultraheavy diquark decaying into vectorlike quarks at the LHC

Abstract:
With powerful particle accelerators such as the LHC and its upcoming High-Luminosity upgrade equipped with performant detectors, the prospects for discovering new, massive particles beyond the Standard Model increase notably. The present study proposes the existence of a vectorlike quark 𝜒 and a diquark scalar Suu with TeV-scale masses. We present a comprehensive statistical analysis study that encompasses the decay of the diquark scalar through both a 𝜒𝜒 pair and a u𝜒 channel. We compute discovery local p-values as well as the 95% C.L. upper limits on the model-dependent signal strength parameter μ across the mass spectrum of the diquark and based on different model parameter configurations. The findings signal that the model possesses high sensitivity to the ultraheavy diquark scalar in the explored phase space, giving promising prospects for their discovery or stringent exclusion at the HL-LHC.
