Abstract:
The transition from rote learning to the development of deep conceptual understanding is a major challenge in the study of physics at the high school and early university levels. Particularly in optics, where phenomena are often difficult to visualize, interactive digital tools can facilitate the construction of accurate and long-lasting mental representations. The present study investigates the use of the H5P Flashcards module, integrated into the Moodle platform, as a strategy for consolidating fundamental concepts in geometric and wave optics. The research focuses on two essential topics — light absorption and lenses — for which two sets of flashcards were developed. These flashcards combine visual representations with conceptual questions designed to stimulate physical reasoning. The study presents and follows how these resources can support the understanding of phenomena, reduce common conceptual difficulties, and improve information retention. The results suggest that integrating interactive flashcards into the teaching process contributes to a deeper understanding and increased student autonomy, highlighting the potential of H5P as a pedagogical tool in modern optics teaching.
